On April 28, the China-UK Hydrogen Energy Cooperation Forum was held in Wuhan, China, and Manchester, UK. The forum was co-organized by the Chinese Consulate-General in Manchester, the British China Affairs Committee, and the Manchester-Britain Association.
During the forum, representatives from the Chinese and British governments and hydrogen energy academia, science and technology, and business circles jointly discussed opportunities for cooperation in the hydrogen energy industry. Zhang Lirong, Secretary-General of China Forum, and Shen Jianyue, Special Expert of China Forum, Expert of Hydrogen Energy Branch of China Industry Development Promotion Association, and Chairman of Palcan, were invited to attend and participate in the discussion.

Wuhan City and Manchester City signed a memorandum of exchange and cooperation in the hydrogen energy industry between the two cities. The Wuhan University of Technology and Manchester Metropolitan University signed a letter of intent for hydrogen energy cooperation. On behalf of China and the UK, the Wuhan University of Technology and Deloitte UK introduced the development status and prospects of the hydrogen energy industry in the two countries, and they discussed the fields of hydrogen energy cooperation in the future. Zheng Zeguang, Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Zhao Haishan, Vice Governor of Hubei Provincial Government, Wu Qiaowen, British Trade Representative to China, and Craig Craig, Speaker of Manchester City, expressed the significance of this forum in promoting hydrogen energy cooperation.
Shen Jianyue is a notable expert of the China Forum, an expert of the Hydrogen Energy Branch of the China Industry Development Promotion Association, and the chairman of Palcan. He pointed out that the development of hydrogen energy has been slow for a long time, mainly because of bottlenecks in the production, storage, transportation, and addition of hydrogen energy. They respectively introduced: the research and development and application of solid-state hydrogen storage materials, the application of hydrogen-ammonia zero-carbon combustion technology in the construction industry, the construction of the hydrogen energy industry chain, the research and development of Dongfeng Motor's fuel cell vehicles, and the green finance of hydrogen energy, etc.
